Digital Media Console Delivers the Next Level of
Home Entertainment
The Yuclid Digital Media Console cost-effectively consolidates the VCR,
DVD player, CD player and game console
Portland,
Oregon, December 9, 2002 – Yuclid, LLC today
announced the Yuclid Digital Media Console
product line, a new family of home entertainment
systems that allows users to watch,
listen, or interact with their favorite media.
The console connects directly to the
television and supports a full range of digital
media applications such as watching and
recording TV; playing games; playing DVDs, CDs,
or MP3s; and watching movies on-demand from the
Internet. The console can be customized and
expanded as necessary, thereby enabling one
device for all home entertainment requirements.
“This is the future of home entertainment,” said
Scott Griffin, president of Yuclid, LLC. “The
Yuclid Digital Media Console incorporates the
functionality of the consumer electronics that
are connected to the television today into one
device and then adds capabilities to take
entertainment into the next era.”
The Yuclid Digital Media Console product line
incorporates the prolific technology of the PC
and integrates it into one affordable consumer
electronic device. The console runs Windows® XP
Home Edition to ensure owners can access the
vast array of software and services already
available to the typical home PC. Users will see
a customized XP desktop that simplifies access
to various media solutions.
The console is Internet-capable, allowing owners to take
advantage of the many new types of entertainment
services being offered on the Internet,
including interactive program guides,
multi-player games, and movies and other
streaming media.
Unlike PCs that offer similar
functionality, the Yuclid Digital Media Console
is designed and configured to look, feel and act
like a typical consumer electronic device that
is connected to the television.
The base model is the Yuclid Digital Media Console
100 with a retail price of $799.
It comes with all the necessary hardware
and software to enjoy all the features of the
console directly out of the box, including the
infrared keyboard with integrated mouse.
It is powered by an Intel® Celeron®
processor and can record 20 hours of television.
The Yuclid Digital Media Console 900 comes with all
the features of the 100, but is powered by the
Intel® Pentium® 4 processor and includes 25
additional hours of television recording and a
radio frequency remote control. The 900 also has
the added ability to pause and rewind live TV.
Both models are configured to function out of the
box without almost no additional configuration.
Also, both consoles are Dolby® Digital
capable and include a DVD drive and floppy
drive.
Each console is supplied with a modem, Ethernet
card, or phoneline networking card, to be
specified at the time of order from the Yuclid
website at no extra cost.
A rewritable DVD drive and wireless networking card
is offered as an option for both models for an
additional cost.
“This
is an innovative and fun product with incredible
potential and opportunity. You’ll be able to
do, see or hear what you want, when you want.
The PC has always had great potential for
entertainment, especially with the Internet, but
it’s stuck in the wrong room,” said Griffin.
An
introductory instant discount of $100 is
currently offered on both models.
The
consoles are currently for sale in the United
States only.
